Lesson Introduction (Hook/Access Prior Knowledge)
Students will be introduced to lesson by viewing an interactive timeline that goes through the events that lead up to the Counter-Reformation. It will be shown in flipbook mode, book and changed to timeline mode after the presentation, so students can see the value of each.

The class will be split up into four groups. Each group will be responsible for organizing an event or theological figure from the timeline to research, and collect data by clicking on the interactive timeline. This will immediately take them to a secondary resource where they can expand on that event to create their own organizational timeline of this specific event and make connections and relate it to the Counter-Reformation.

Students will be graded based on a rubric for the timeline. I will monitor their progress by checking their timelines observing their method of research. If students have questions along the way, I can provide assistance when necessary. Students will work together in groups to prepare a detailed timeline with accurate dates, and events relating to the to the Counter-Reformation. Each student will be responsible for completing the last section in the Reformation pamphlet about the Counter-Reformation.

Students will present their timelines to the class. We will have a whole-class wrap-up once everyone has shared their pamphlets. Students will make some assumptions about the upcoming sections in the pamphlet.

Accommodations for English Learners, Struggling Readers and Students with Special Needs
Students will view pictures on the timeline to view significant events regarding the Counter-Reformation. They will work in groups to support language development and have multiple entry points for understanding the depths of the assignment. Additional instructional support and scaffolding will be provided from the teacher when monitoring students' progress.
